What should I work on now that PSLE is about 2 months away?

It’s important to note that two months refers to the written papers. The exams actually begin much earlier. Working backwards from today (27 July):

  • Oral — 12 & 13 August (about 2.5 weeks away)
  • Listening Comprehension — 15 September (about 7 weeks away)
  • Written Papers — 24, 25, 28, 29, 30 September

Logistics Checklist (do this now to avoid last‑minute stress)

  • Approved dictionary for MTL Paper 1 — needs to be free of annotations and stamped by the school
  • Approved scientific calculator for Maths Paper 2 — check it works, bring spare batteries
  • 2B pencils, soft eraser, black or dark blue 0.5mm ballpoint pens, ruler/protractor/set-square
  • Practise crossing out errors neatly: correction fluid, tape and highlighters aren't allowed, and answers must not be in pencil

Now until mid-August — Prioritise Oral

  • Daily reading aloud (10 minutes): focus on pace, clear articulation, pausing at punctuation, and adding expression instead of reading in a flat monotone
  • Stimulus‑based conversation: practise giving a reason and a personal example, not just a one‑line answer

Meanwhile, do targeted drills for weaker topics. Keep an error log (misread question? wrong unit? didn't know how?), and use these patterns to guide your revision. For questions you still struggle with, record them in your Correction Journals, which becomes your most effective revision material in the final months leading up to PSLE.

Mid-August to Mid-September — Timed Practice

  • Practise whole papers under exam conditions, ideally starting at 8:15am to tune your body clock to the actual test times.
  • Fix your sleep schedule now, and maintain at least two non-study half-days each week. Two months is long enough that burning out in September is a real risk.
  • For Listening Comprehension, practise shading answers as you listen. There's no extra time at the end to transfer responses.

Last 2 Weeks — Peak for Exam Days

  • No new content at this stage; focus on clearing your Correction Journals.
  • Run your exam-day routine daily: when to wake up, what to eat for breakfast and mid-morning snacks, when to have dinner, and when to go to bed.
  • Schedule your most important revisions during morning exam times to condition your body and mind to peak at the right hours.

Final Reminder

The students who perform best in the last stretch are usually the rested ones, not those who study the most hours. Balance preparation with rest to ensure you’re at your sharpest when it matters.
