Do the pictures used in the Oral exam rarely have words on them?

It's unlikely that the photo stimulus will have words added to it, since the PSLE English Oral exam moved to a photo format last year (2025). The three-layered approach to reading the stimulus during preparation, however, remains the same:

1. Observe — What is it? Note precise details about who (the people), where (the place) and what (the activities) in the photo.
2. Interpret — What does it mean? What feeling is it trying to create? Does anything stand out to you?
3. Connect — How does it relate to you? A memory or experience, a habit, or a view you hold.

So don't expect words to read off the photo. The marks come from how well you observe, interpret and connect it to your own experience in the conversation with the examiners.
